Successful Test of L3000 API 617 TurboExpander / Compressor Unit

L.A. Turbine has successfully manufactured and tested a L3000 Turboexpander/Compressor unit per API 617. L.A. Turbine can now call this machine it’s first turboexpander designed and manufactured per API 617. This is another significant achievement of L.A. Turbine team! With years of accumulated experience of the team within the areas of in-house design, engineering and manufacturing in turboexpander industry, this challenging project has met and exceeded all customer specifications and requirements as well as industry testing standards.

“This unit is tested with contract lube oil system and the instrumentations. Meaning we tested the machine with lube oil system and electrical system designed and developed for this L3000 turboexpander, as opposed to the test lube system that some other companies in the industry would use. Also, we performed the four-hour mechanical run at maximum continuous speed to verify the mechanical operation of the machine along with performance test. Customer witnessed the test and is satisfied with the results “, noted Jackie Yeh, Testing Manager at L.A. Turbine.

The design for this machine is optimized for the flow range within 65 to 200 MMSCFD. This machine provided outstanding test results achieving 91% expander wheel efficiency. This medium framed expander will be shipped to the customer on March 3, 2012 and will see its duty at a Gas Processing plant.
