L.A. Turbine received a multimillion-dollar contract for two magnetic-bearing, expander-compressor units by one of the largest equipment procurement companies in Asia. The machines are destined for the central processing facilities of a gas separation plant located in the Middle East and will contribute to the plant’s ability to handle a flow range of 5.6 million m3/d.
The magnetic-bearing turboexpanders will be designed, manufactured and tested in L.A. Turbine’s Valencia, California, headquarters, with shipment scheduled for first quarter of 2014. L.A. Turbine said its global field service team will provide support, commissioning and maintenance of the units.
L.A. Turbine designs and manufactures application-specific turboexpanders used in hydrocarbon processing, geothermal power generation and other industrial power-recovery applications. The company said it is also recognized for aftermarket repair, redesign, maintenance and spare part production for all makes and models of turboexpanders worldwide.
In addition to addressing the North American market, the company said its U.S. staff supports the needs of Canada, South America, Asia and Australia, while its European headquarters in Belgium serves Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
